We're back and hope you all have had a great time and a good start to 2013 - Best Wishes for the New Year.
As mentioned in the last journal, we have taken the chance over the three week break to clean up the Group's gallery, rethinking the folder structure, revamping the profiles page and, we were also lazy as planned .
The outcome of our pondering is seen in these changes:
There is a new folder called "non-real caused by reflection". One of our wonderful members gave us the idea to split the reflection based pictures from the light folder ... and here we are.
The submission limits are now set to five per week. We decide on this decrease because we often get series of similar pictures. By doing this, we hope to encourage and support more variation and diversity. Additionally, we will be a little bit more strict when accepting/declining images.
In general we want to offer more activities and features.
One will be the ongoing encouragement to send us suggestions for a DD via note. We would be glad to support you or another artist.
Also there will be a monthly feature of one member of our beloved members choosen by you via a poll.
Following the Randomized News Series 4.X we will show you today a selection of submissions to the "non-real caused by content" folder in 2012. Usually, we add our own thoughts/categories on what can be seen in this folder, but in this general folder feature we have used a random generator for choosing the pictures. Hope you enjoy the non-human selection
I read your "Randomized news" and interested with the folder named as "non-real caused by reflection"...I vsited the folder and noticed that there are some photographs including reflections and all of them are about the reflections from a glass or a window. Hope that folder will include also some other kind of reflections like; reflection from a mirror or reflection of water and so on... ... ... Now I am going to visit the photographs that you select for that journal ( can I call it a journal? ). And Will fav all the photographs. Because you created an artwork from their such beautiful submissions. And I am really honored to be here with a portrait...With my sincere appreciations...
I noticed that some other reflection photographs are added to the section now. So I am glad that I thinking in a similar way with you ... And seeing that the group getting more precise and more elegant path way to follow makes me happy dear friend. Hope to meet your latest photographs soon
Good to know that the more precise folder themes are welcome. I loved the concept of more abstract folders, but I know that it is not that easy to know what's in my head while building the folder structure. With the light and reflection folder, which were built later, I hope we have done a good step forward
I'm glad you like the feature. There were different reasons for doing it with a random machine - more than 2800 pictures (it's our biggest folder in 2012) to view are too much and as there are found really wonderful art it would be too hard to choose them - so we thought it would be the most fair to do the selection in this way Have a wonderful weekend
This is a wonderful feature, my sweet Erdtrud and it's an honour you have included my work, thank you so much! I also like it that you're trying to improve the standards in the group, although it already is an amazing one!
Thanks so much for your comment my dear Christina. It's such a great pleasure to add you here in this feature
I'm glad to read your opinion about our idea of improvement - I know it's not easy and from my own membership in other groups I do not feel that happy if a picture is declined. But I think we need this step to avoid to become too general. Good to know that this idea is supported
The group is a big responsibility, my sweet friend and I know it is very hard simply because you're far too kind to decline a work. But think of it this way, when one gets the message that a particular piece of art is not what you expect, they get a chance to improve themselves or make the changes needed to fit your standards. This is a motive in itself and we should be thankful , there's so much room for improvement in every work, every individual, every life
